CENTER FOR EDUCATIONAL FUNDING

 The No Child Left Behind Act (BCLB) was signed into law in 2001.

Its goal is to raise academic standards, close achievement gaps and

encourage more school accountability.

To assist schools in meeting this goal, our ACADEMIC SUPPORT SERVICES Division provides support to Title I, Academic Intervention Services (AIS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) programs.  Our goal is:

Academically Low Performing Students

will Achieve Academic Success.

WE BEGIN BY:  Reviewing Current Practices

• Review the school's current support services for academically at-rsk students in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies, as well as the support services provided to students with disabilities and English Language Learners.

WE THEN:  Recommend Revisions to Current Practices

• Recommend an action plan for any necessary modifications that will positively affect student outcomes and impact a school's NYCDOE Progress Report.

WE WILL:  Provide Monthly Services (August-June) that will:

• Assist staff on strategies needed to support student growth and progress based on assessments that have identified students' areas of need;
• Establish collaborations between classroom teachers and teachers working with at-risk students and ensure that all teachers are on the same page in supporting student needs;
• Assist staff in improving the passing rate of students on the annual State Assessments (elementary & middle schools) and State Regents Exams (high schools);
• Assist the school in improving its DOE progress report grade;
• Assist the school in meeting or exceeding Annual Yearly Progress (AYP);
• Ensure that all NCLB Title I requirements & documentation are in place and that Title I staff are familiar with and using them appropriately; and
• Assist the Principal and staff in preparing for State, Authorizer and NYCDOE reviews.

 NYSED-mandated PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Our services will help teaching staff to meet their individual Professional Development requirements as set forth by the New York State Education Department.

 Support the School's MENTORING PROGRAM

• Throughout the year, we will provide support to both new and current teachers that have the responsibility of providing academic remediation or AIS services to academically at-risk students.

EFFECT OF OUR SERVICES ON STUDENTS and SCHOOL

• Our services should result in increased student performance on State Assessments; improvements on the annual NYCDOE Progress Report; and assist the school in meeting or exceeding their AYP.
